Founded in 1972 by legendary angler Archie Fields, Río Colorado Lodge quickly became one of Costa Rica’s premier destinations for world-class tarpon and snook fishing. Built cabin by cabin along the remote Río Colorado, the lodge earned renown for its exceptional angling and authentic jungle-river charm. After Fields’ passing in 1993, longtime operator Dan Wise preserved its rustic character while enhancing guest comfort. In 2026, the lodge will reopen under new management with thoughtful updates that honor Archie’s original vision while improving the guest experience. We are committed to giving back to the local community through eco-tourism initiatives and will strive to be Costa Rica’s best family-friendly fishing destination.
